Our Manifesto
For people who want to make a change in their lives and are ready to say "Fudge This Ship!" to their current situation.
Welcome to our manifesto.
This manifesto is for people who want to make a change in their lives and are ready to say "Fudge This Ship!" to their current situation.
This is a living document and may change from time to time, as it should if we are learning and growing.
1. You must take responsibility for your life
Where you are in your life today is where you're supposed to be based on your actions so far (see point 3). It may be hard, you may be in a difficult place right now, but until you take responsibility nothing will change (see points 7 & 8).
2. Life's not fair, accept it and move on
Some people have it easier than you, don't use that as an excuse, you still have the power to improve your life no matter where you started. And if you're reading this, there is a 99% chance that you are way better off than most of the world, even if it doesn't feel like it (see point 5).
3. Let go of the past but learn from it
We are where we are because of two things:
Where we started
Our actions since thenWe can't change the first one (see point 2) but we can change the second one. If you're not where you want to be look back at what you've done and learn from it. Do more of the things that improved your life and change the things that didn't.
Remember that even if you think you're doing well, what got you to where you are now may not be what's needed to get you to the next level (if you're even aiming for the next level, see point 6).
4. Whatever actions we take should not be to the detriment of others
Do not pull people down in your attempts to pull yourself up.
- No crime.
- No corruption.
- No scams, cons or misleading people.
- Do the right thing.
- Be polite.
- Be kind.
5. Practice gratitude
Even if you think your life sucks, be grateful for what you have. Be thankful for the little things. For example
- A roof over your head
- A great cup of tea or coffee
- For seeing a beautiful sunset or flower or smile today
- For living in a country where it's easier to make dreams come true
- For having the right mindset and knowing that things need to change
6. You get to determine what kind of life you want, nobody else
Some people want to live on luxury yachts, some want to change the world, some want to help one person, some want a simple life in the mountains, some want to spend time with their family, some want an unstressful 9-5 and to be able to watch the game on weekends. There is no right or wrong, there's just what's right for you. We shouldn't judge a person whose life vision is different from ours. As long as you're not going against point 4 then it's all good.
7. Action always beats intention
If you don't take action nothing will change. You can't sit and hope for a lottery win or a promotion, or an inheritance. You have to make things happen. There will be times when you have to do something that makes you feel uncomfortable such as make a cold call, miss a party, or put your face on social media. Just don't violate point 4 or do anything that puts you in any sort of danger (see point 8).
8. It's not going to be easy
It's going to be tough and you'll want to quit. And that's fine. But if you quit you have to accept that the life you have now will most likely be the life you'll have in the future (and that's ok too, see points 6 & 10). But if you really want to say "fudge this ship" then you have to accept that at times it's going to suck. Do the hard work now so that it's easier later in life.
9. Find your why
If you don't have a strong why for saying "fudge this ship" you're going to find it very difficult to continue when the going gets tough. There's a lot of talk about systems and habits for change, but without a strong why these will fail too. Every time you think about your why, and then look at your current life, the urge to shout "fudge this ship!" should be overwhelmingly strong.
10. You don't have to follow this manifesto
Maybe you're happy with your life right now and you don't want to change it. If so that's great, we're really happy for you and you should celebrate it!
